A second generation antiques professional, Matthew Isganaitis’ family has dealt in antiques since the 1970s. Growing up, Matthew was surrounded with a vast collection ranging from decorative arts like silver to fine paintings and bronze. He learned early the value of quality and history. Matthew’s deep interest in  Chinese decorative art was spurred by his discovery and exploration of antique jade in 2004. Unlike other decorative antiques, Matthew found that jade held a tactile, hands-on interest and that centuries-old pieces had surprising personality and character. Often spending upwards of a year curating individual collections, Matthew’s fascination with jade led to a passion for Chinese decorative art, and a wealth of expertise and connections.

With over 14 years working with antiques and decorative arts, Matthew Isganaitis formed Valeona Gallery to provide a professional venue in Montreal where people can buy and sell high quality Art and Antiques and reach an international audience. Matthew’s interest in Chinese decorative art has allowed him to build a network of connections and source some of the most unique pieces scarcely available to collectors.
